1. Purpose and Scope
The Safeguard Hub (safeguard-hub.org) is an online safeguarding education resource operated by The Safeguard Initiative Ltd. This policy sets out our commitment to child safety in the operation of this website and the organisation behind it.
This policy applies to:
- All content published on safeguard-hub.org and associated domains
- All individuals involved in producing, reviewing, or managing content for The Safeguard Hub
- All commercial and partnership relationships entered into by The Safeguard Initiative Ltd
- All communications received through this website, including contact form submissions, emails, and any user-generated interaction
This website does not operate physical premises, deliver in-person services, or have direct contact with children in an organisational capacity. Our safeguarding responsibilities therefore relate primarily to the content we publish, how we handle disclosures made through the site, and how we operate as an organisation.
2. Our Commitment
The Safeguard Initiative Ltd is committed to:
- Publishing content that supports the safeguarding of children and young people, and never publishing content that could place a child at risk
- Responding appropriately when a concern about a child is disclosed through this website
- Ensuring that all content is aligned with current UK statutory safeguarding guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026
- Operating transparently and maintaining appropriate policies for all aspects of our work
- Reviewing this policy annually and updating it when statutory guidance, legislation, or our operating model changes

The DSL is responsible for receiving and acting on any safeguarding concern disclosed through this website, and for ensuring this policy is implemented and reviewed.
4. Content Standards
All content published on The Safeguard Hub is subject to the following standards:
Accuracy
Content is aligned with current UK statutory guidance and cited from primary sources. Factual claims are reviewed before publication. We correct errors promptly when they are identified.
Child safety
No content published on this site facilitates, encourages, or normalises harm to children. Content relating to sensitive topics (knife crime, exploitation, substance misuse, online harm) is produced for educational and safeguarding purposes only, and is written and presented in a way that supports protection rather than enabling harm.
Appropriate audience framing
Content aimed at young people is written with their safety and wellbeing as the primary consideration. We do not publish content directed at children that includes graphic detail, unsupported risk-taking, or anything that could be misused to harm a young person.
Safeguarding referral signposting
All content dealing with child protection concerns includes appropriate referral information, including emergency contacts, the NSPCC helpline, CEOP, and local authority children's services pathways.
5. Responding to Disclosures
This website is accessed by members of the public, including parents, young people, and professionals. It is possible that someone using this site may make a disclosure of abuse or concern about a child through our contact channels.
If a disclosure or concern is received through this website — by email, contact form, or any other channel — the following procedure applies:
- The disclosure is treated as confidential and handled by the DSL
- If the disclosure indicates that a child is at immediate risk of harm, the DSL will contact the relevant emergency services or statutory agency without delay
- If the disclosure indicates ongoing concern that does not require an immediate emergency response, the DSL will refer to the relevant local authority MASH or children's social care team
- The person making the disclosure will be signposted to the appropriate professional support
- A record of the disclosure and the action taken will be kept securely
6. Safer Content Production
The Safeguard Initiative Ltd uses AI-assisted tools in aspects of content research and production. Our full AI use policy is set out in our Terms of Use. In the context of safeguarding, we commit to the following additional standards:
- AI tools are not used to generate content that could place children at risk
- All content involving sensitive safeguarding topics is reviewed by a human before publication
- We do not publish AI-generated content that has not been checked for accuracy against primary statutory sources
- Statistical claims and legal references are verified before publication regardless of how they were drafted
7. Data Protection and Child Privacy
The Safeguard Hub does not collect personal data from children. This website does not operate user accounts, registration systems, or data collection forms directed at under-18s.
Where contact forms or email are used by individuals to reach us, data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR. We do not share personal data received through the site with third parties except where required by law or where necessary to refer a safeguarding concern to the appropriate statutory authority.
8. Commercial Relationships
The Safeguard Initiative Ltd maintains a supporters and sponsorship programme. All commercial relationships are subject to the following safeguarding conditions:
- No commercial partner may influence the editorial content of The Safeguard Hub
- We will not enter into commercial relationships with organisations whose products, services, or conduct are inconsistent with child safety and welfare
- Supporter recognition on the site does not constitute an endorsement of a product or service beyond the commercial relationship described on the supporters page
- All commercial relationships are reviewed annually for continued compliance with these standards
9. Allegations Against the Organisation or Its Representatives
Any allegation of inappropriate behaviour, harm, or safeguarding concern involving a representative of The Safeguard Initiative Ltd should be reported to:

Where an allegation concerns the DSL directly, or where the person making the allegation does not feel comfortable contacting the organisation, they should contact:

- The police: 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (immediate risk)
- The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, where The Safeguard Initiative Ltd is registered
10. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed annually by the DSL. It will also be reviewed and updated following:
- Any change to UK safeguarding legislation or statutory guidance
- Any significant change to how this website operates or what services it provides
- Any safeguarding incident or concern involving this organisation
- Any material change to the organisation's commercial or partnership arrangements
